How Virtual Reality helps in changing physiotherapy?

Virtual reality could help physiotherapy patients complete their exercises at home.

Patients rarely receive any guidance aside from a leaflet of sketches or static photographs to instruct them on the way to complete their exercises. This results in poor adherence, with patients becoming anxious about not getting the exercise right, or just becoming bored by the repetitiveness of the movements.

Virtual Reality technology combined with 3D motion capture allows real movements to be accurately translated onto an avatar which will be viewed during a virtual environment. The researches were constantly performing on it whether this technology is often wont to provide guidance to physiotherapy patients, by providing a virtual physiotherapist within the home to demonstrate the prescribed exercises.

Researchers had to research whether people were ready to accurately coordinate and follow the movements of an avatar during a virtual environment. They asked participants to step in time with an avatar viewed through a VR headset.

Researches were happening and located that participants struggled to stay in time if only visual information was present. Then, they added realistic footstep sounds additionally to the visual information, the more realistic multisensory information allowed participants to accurately follow it.

Exercise after lung cancer surgery important for recovery

It has found that lung cancer patients who exercise after surgery to remove a tumour experience increased fitness and strength in their leg muscles as well as a decrease in shortness of breath compared to those who are inactive.
Exercise training undertaken by people within 12 months of lung resection for non-small cell lung cancer,’ published in the Cochrane Database of Systemic Reviews, studied whether exercise was beneficial for people diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and who had a lung resection in the past 12 months.
Lead author of the study Dr Vinicius Cavalheri, said lung cancer continued to be a growing problem, and NSCLC is particularly significant, making up more than 85 per cent of all cases globally. It has found that the exercise gives a great effect on both endurance and strength. Some patients even improved their physical fitness level compared to before removing part of or a whole lung.

Ayurvedic treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

Ayurveda is an traditional Indian practice involving a natural, holistic method for treating medical conditions. Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) treatment is done by Ayurveda. Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disease which causes chronic inflammation of the joints. It causes inflammation of the tissue around the joints, as well as in other organs also. Autoimmune diseases cause illnesses that occur when the body's tissues are mistakenly attacked by their own immune system. Patients suffering from autoimmune diseases have antibodies in their blood that target their own body tissues, where they can be associated with inflammation. Because it can affect multiple other organs of the body, it is referred to as a systemic illness and is sometimes called rheumatoid disease.

Ayurvedic treatments for Rheumatoid Arthritis depend on which diagnostic guidelines the practitioner uses. Like those who practice from the guidelines "Madhava Nidana" believe that imbalances in the gut and inflammatory compounds cause RA and on the other hand, practitioners believe that RA is the result of poor dietary and reflects lifestyle habits which causes inflammation in the body. Both approaches use herbs, dietary changes, exercise, supplements, and to help relieve RA symptoms.

Symptoms:
  • Swelling
  • Lethargy
  • Thirst
  •  Indigestion
  •  Heaviness in the body
  •  Pain and stiffness in the body
  •  Pain and stiffness in the joints of the hands
  •  Sometimes lack of appetite

Herbs and supplements:
Some of the herbs to treat RA include:
  •          Boswellia serrata (Indian frankincense)
  •          garlic
  •          ginger
  •          Ricinus communis (castor oil)
  •          Ashwagandha

Diet & Lifestyle Advice:
  •   Avoid eating fish and milk together or jaggery and milk together.
  •   Avoid incompatible, heavy, and oily foods.
  •  Avoid an improper diet and lifestyle, such as waking up late in the night, getting direct     exposure to cold winds and suppressing natural urges of the body.
  •   Increase intake of barley flour, split green gram, horse gram, honey, celery seeds, dried ginger   root powder, garlic, cumin seeds, bitter gourd and castor oil.

Diet to be avoided:
Ayurvedic practitioners believe the following dietary habits may cause or worsen the symptoms of RA:
  •  drinking alcohol
  •   taking in excess salt
  •   eating spicy foods
  •   eating uncooked foods
  •   consuming too many sour, sweet, or sugary foods

CBD and Exercise: Risks and Benefits

Athletes put a lot of stress on their bodies in positive and negative effect. Training stress stimulates adaptation and increases the performance, but physical trauma and prolonged wear and tear leads to pain and injuries. Current methods of pain management are effective, but they are also killing people. As per the search of improved sports recovery and safer pain relief, many people are asking about cannabidiol or CBD for athletes.

Chronic use of over-the-counter pain relievers poses greater health risk than previously known, and during an epidemic of opioid addiction and overdoses that kill tens of thousands of Americans annually. In such case, athletes are rightly curious about and eager for cannabidiols’ (CBD) promises of pain relief and reduced inflammation without the risks associated with NSAIDs or opioids.

CBD Basics

Cnnabinoids already exist in your body. Scientists have identified what they call the endocannibinoid system (ECS) that modulates the activity of neurons. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a phytocannabinoid which is found naturally in the cannabis plant. Unlike THC, which is also found in cannabis, CBD is not psychoactive.

6 Benefits of CBD for Athletes
  • Anti-Inflammatory
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Pain relief
  • Boost your energy
  • Improve Sleep Quality
  • Settle your gut and reduce nausea

Learn about a bulging disc in the neck

A bulging disc in the neck forms when a spinal disc becomes weakens and encroaches on the spinal cord. In some of the cases, this can cause pain in the neck, arms, back and shoulders. Acute injury to the area might cause a bulging disc in the neck.
Your spine has three main segments, from top to bottom:
  • Cervical
  • Thoracic
  • Lumbar
The top seven vertebrae in the spine are the cervical vertebrae. The cervical area of a spinal cord contains nerves that connect to the arms, hands, and upper body.
Cervical disks cushion the cervical vertebrae. They are connected to vertebrae each other so you can bend and twist your neck and back.

Causes
  • A connective disc separates each vertebra to maintain the flexibility. The elastic tissues are made to keep the spinal discs strong.
  • A herniated disc occurs when there is a damage to the outer layer that causes the inner substance to leak out of the disc. The bulging or herniated discs suddenly includes long-term trauma.
  • When the spine bends or rotates, the spinal discs change its size to support the movement and to prevent friction between the bones.
  • Herniated and bulging are terms that describe the disc. Some people compare a bulging disc to a tire that is going flat, whereas they consider a herniated disc like a tire blowout.
Other possible causes include:
  •          being older
  •          being overweight
  •          having intervertebral disc disease
  •          being sedentary

Symptoms
  •          pain when moving
  •          pain in the neck, shoulders, and back
  •          a reduced range of motion
  •          numbness or tingling in the shoulders, arms, or fingers

The severity of the symptoms depends on how much pressure there is on the nerve. The symptoms often worsen during activity and improve when resting.
